You’ll visit one of Mexico’s 111 “magical” national treasures, Bacalar, also known as the Lagoon of Seven Colors for its stunning blue and turquoise hues. Located three hours south of Playa del Carmen, this freshwater lagoon is a true natural wonder. Begin with a visit to the Fort of San Felipe, built in the early 1700s to protect the town from pirates. The fort’s small museum offers a glimpse into local life during the Spanish conquest and after pirate invasions. Next, embark on a 2.5-hour private pontoon charter, exploring the highlights of Bacalar. You’ll witness the Esmeralda Cenote, Black Cenote, and the Pirates Canal, as well as the impressive Isla de Los Pájaros (Bird Island), home to a variety of migratory and resident bird species.
