Tulum earned its reputation as a wellness capital honestly: on any given morning you can practice yoga on the beach as the sun comes up over the Caribbean, then a second class at midday in a thatched jungle shala open to the trees. The town draws teachers from around the world, so the styles on offer run the full range: Vinyasa, Hatha, Yin, Ashtanga, Kundalini and everything between.

Beachfront studios are the signature Tulum experience: open-air decks a few steps from the water, usually timed to sunrise or sunset. Inland, jungle studios sit among the trees along the Tulum–CobΓ‘ road and in the town center, where the practice is cooler, quieter and often paired with sound baths, cacao ceremonies or breathwork.

Most studios welcome drop-ins, and classes are offered in English, Spanish and often other languages given the international crowd. Levels range from gentle all-levels flows to advanced workshops, so beginners and seasoned practitioners both have a home here. Mats are usually available to borrow or rent, so you don’t need to travel with your own.

We help you find and reserve classes across Tulum’s beachfront and jungle studios so you can build your own practice around your trip instead of chasing schedules.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be experienced?

Not at all. Most Tulum studios run all-levels and beginner-friendly classes daily, alongside advanced workshops. If you’re new, look for β€œall levels” or β€œbeginner” on the schedule and arrive a few minutes early to meet the teacher.

Can I drop in, or do I need to book ahead?

Both. Many classes accept drop-ins, but popular sunrise beachfront and specialty sessions (sound baths, ceremonies) fill up, so reserving ahead is safer in high season.

Do studios provide mats?

Most do, either included or for a small rental fee, so you don’t need to bring your own. Bring water and a light towel, especially for beach classes.

Beachfront or jungle: what’s the difference?

Beachfront classes are open-air on the sand, usually timed to sunrise or sunset (spectacular but warm). Jungle and town studios are cooler and quieter and more often paired with breathwork, sound or ceremony. Many practitioners do both.
